Lumen Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the mobile application Lumen · Daily Bible ("Service"), provided by Hedvion ("Company"), and set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the Company and you ("User").

1. Purpose

These Terms define the conditions and procedures for using the Service, as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and the User.

2. Effect and Amendment of Terms

  1. These Terms apply to all Users of the Service.
  2. The Company may amend these Terms within the limits of applicable law. Any amendment will be announced within the app or at https://legal.hedvion.com/lumen/terms-en.
  3. If you do not agree to the amended Terms, you may discontinue use of the Service. Continued use of the Service after the amended Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

3. Description of the Service

The Service provided by the Company includes:

  • Reading the Bible (Korean Revised Version, English WEB)
  • Parallel Korean–English reading
  • Full-text search
  • A Bible glossary
  • Bookmarks and reading-progress tracking
  • Reading themes (light / dark / sepia)

The specific contents of the Service may be changed, added, or removed through app updates.

4. Free Use and Premium

  1. Free use: You may read a daily allotment of Scripture (5 chapters per day for the Korean Revised Version) without any payment. Search, glossary, and parallel reading are provided free of charge. Advertisements may be displayed during free use.
  2. Additional reading via ads: When the daily free limit is reached, you may unlock additional reading by watching a rewarded advertisement.
  3. Daily reset: The free reading limit resets every midnight (device time). Scripture text is never permanently blocked.
  4. Premium: Through a one-time in-app purchase (Premium, non-consumable), you may permanently enjoy unlimited reading, ad removal, and additional themes (sepia / night).

5. In-App Purchases and Refunds

  1. Premium purchases are processed through the in-app purchase systems of the Apple App Store and Google Play.
  2. Premium is a non-consumable (permanent) product. After a single purchase, it can be restored on the same store account via "Restore Purchases."
  3. Refunds are subject to the refund policies and procedures of each app marketplace (Apple, Google). The Company may revoke Premium benefits in accordance with a marketplace's refund decision.
  4. Prices and benefits may change upon prior notice and will not be applied retroactively to Users who have already purchased.

6. Advertising

  1. The Service may display advertisements (app-open ads, banners, rewarded ads, etc.) to free Users.
  2. No interruptive interstitial advertisements are displayed while you are reading Scripture.
  3. Advertisements are served through third-party ad networks (such as Google AdMob), and responsibility for advertisement content lies with the respective advertisers.

7. Copyright and Intellectual Property

  1. Scripture text: The Korean text uses the Korean Revised Version (public domain), and the English text uses the World English Bible (WEB, CC0 / public domain).
  2. Rights to all content comprising the Service — including its design, code, glossary compilation, logo, and trademarks — belong to the Company.
  3. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit the Service without the Company's prior consent.

8. User Obligations

You must not:

  • Reverse-engineer or decompile the Service, or obtain Premium benefits by fraudulent means;
  • Interfere with the normal operation of the Service;
  • Engage in any act that violates applicable law or these Terms.

9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

  1. The Company strives for the accuracy of the Scripture text but does not warrant that the text data is free of errors.
  2. The Service is provided "as-is." The Company is not liable for damages arising from causes beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God and failures of third-party services such as marketplaces and ad networks.
  3. With respect to services provided free of charge, the Company's liability is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  1. These Terms are interpreted and applied in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. In the event of a dispute relating to use of the Service, the Company and the User shall endeavor to resolve it in good faith; failing such resolution, the matter may be brought before the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act.
