1. Overview

FilmDev (the "App") is a darkroom-safe multi-stage timer that guides you through developing black-and-white (B&W) and C-41 film (develop, stop, fix, wash, etc.). The App requires no account and transmits no recipe or development-log data to any server. All data stays on your device.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Screen Brightness and Device Control

While the darkroom timer is running, the App dims the screen to minimum brightness (a pure-black + deep-red darkroom-safe display), keeps the screen awake (wakelock), and plays haptic vibration and a beep tone on stage transitions. The App does not use location, camera, or microphone, and none of this activity is stored or transmitted anywhere.

2.2 Locally Stored Data (Recipes and Development Logs)

Development recipes you create (film stock, developer, dilution, temperature, per-stage durations) and development log entries (timestamp, film, developer, notes, rating) are stored only in a local database (sqflite) on your device. This data is never transmitted to a server and cannot be accessed remotely.

2.3 Purchases

Removing ads and unlocking unlimited recipes plus JSON export/import (one-time purchase, product ID filmdev_pro, $4.99) is processed by Google Play / Apple App Store. The App never collects or stores payment details; it only verifies the purchase via the store receipt.

2.4 Advertising

This App includes the Google AdMob advertising SDK and shows banner ads on non-timer screens (recipe list, log, settings) in the free tier. AdMob may process advertising identifiers (ADID/IDFA); the App requests consent (UMP/GDPR, and ATT on iOS) on first launch. Purchasing FilmDev Pro stops the ad SDK from loading entirely. No ads are ever shown on the darkroom timer screen.

3. Retention and Deletion

The App collects no personal data on any server. The data described in 2.2 is stored only on your device and is removed when you delete records in the App or uninstall the App.

4. Children

The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

5. Safety / Disclaimer Notice

The starter recipes bundled with the App (development times, dilutions, etc.) are compiled for reference from film and developer manufacturer datasheets, and the App's temperature-compensation calculation is a reference guide only — not a commercially validated dataset. Actual results vary with film batch, chemistry condition, and personal equipment, so you must independently verify times and temperatures through your own testing before relying on them. The App makes no guarantee regarding film or chemistry results.
