HWP Viewer Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the mobile application HWP Viewer ("Service"), provided by Hedvion ("Company"), and set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the Company and you ("User").

1. Purpose

These Terms define the conditions and procedures for using the Service, as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and the User.

2. Effect and Amendment of Terms

  1. These Terms apply to all Users of the Service.
  2. The Company may amend these Terms within the limits of applicable law. Any amendment will be announced within the app or at https://legal.hedvion.com/hwpviewer/terms-en.
  3. If you do not agree to the amended Terms, you may discontinue use of the Service. Continued use of the Service after the amended Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

3. Description of the Service

The Service provided by the Company includes:

  • Opening .hwp/.hwpx document files and rendering them as PDF pages
  • Searching and copying text within documents
  • Editing and saving extracted text
  • Saving and sharing documents in .hwpx format
  • Offline re-access to recently viewed documents from the on-device cache

The specific contents of the Service may be changed, added, or removed through app updates.

4. Document Conversion Service

  1. Document files that cannot be processed on-device are sent to the Company's conversion server, which returns a PDF or extracted text.
  2. Uploaded document files are processed solely for conversion and are not permanently stored on the server. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  3. The Company does not guarantee full accuracy of conversion results; complex formatting (text boxes, footnotes/endnotes, etc.) in some documents may be lost during conversion.

5. Advertising and In-App Purchases

  1. The Service may display advertisements to free Users via Google AdMob.
  2. You may permanently remove ads through a one-time in-app purchase (ad removal).
  3. In-app purchases are processed through the Apple App Store payment system, and refunds are subject to Apple's refund policies and procedures.
  4. Prices and benefits may change upon prior notice and will not be applied retroactively to Users who have already purchased.

6. Copyright and Intellectual Property

  1. Copyright in documents you view or convert through the App belongs to the original author of that document or to you; the Company claims no rights over document content.
  2. Rights to all content comprising the Service — including its design, code, logo, and trademarks — belong to the Company.
  3. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit the Service without the Company's prior consent.

7. User Obligations

You must not:

  • Send documents that infringe another party's copyright to the conversion server;
  • Reverse-engineer or decompile the Service, or obtain paid benefits by fraudulent means;
  • Send excessive requests to the conversion server or otherwise interfere with the normal operation of the Service;
  • Engage in any act that violates applicable law or these Terms.

8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

  1. The Company does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of document conversion results, and its liability for damages arising from conversion errors is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.
  2. The Service is provided "as-is." The Company is not liable for damages arising from causes beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, network failures, and failures of third-party services such as marketplaces and ad networks.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  1. These Terms are interpreted and applied in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. In the event of a dispute relating to use of the Service, the Company and the User shall endeavor to resolve it in good faith; failing such resolution, the matter may be brought before the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act.
