MetalScope Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
1. Overview
MetalScope (the "App") uses your device's built-in magnetic sensor (magnetometer) to measure changes in the surrounding magnetic field and to show and record reactions caused by ferrous metal. The App requires no account and never uploads measurement data to a server. All analysis, storage, and image generation happen on your device.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Magnetic sensor
The App reads magnetic field values to detect metal (no permission is required for this sensor). Readings are used for live analysis only and are not stored or uploaded by default. When you save a scan, the measured values (field, deviation, threshold, and similar) and a scan image are stored only in your device's local storage. You can view, share, or delete saved scans inside the App.
Magnetic sensor readings are not location data. The App does not request or use GPS or network location.
2.2 Advertising data
When used without the ad-removal purchase, the App shows ads. In that process an advertising identifier (ADID/IDFA), device information (model, OS version), approximate location (IP-based), and ad interaction data may be collected by the ad provider. Users in the EEA/UK are asked for consent (GDPR) on first launch, and iOS users are asked through App Tracking Transparency (ATT).
2.3 Payment information
The one-time, permanent ad-removal purchase is processed by the store the App was installed from. The App does not collect or store card numbers or other payment details; it only checks purchase status through the store receipt.
3. Retention and Deletion
The App collects and stores no personal data on any server. Saved scans and images exist only on your device and are removed when you delete them in the App or uninstall the App.
4. Children
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
5. Your Rights
You can delete saved scans at any time inside the App. Advertising consent can be changed in your device settings or through the App's consent management.
