RowNest Privacy Policy

1. Overview

RowNest ("the app") opens knitting and crochet patterns (PDF) that you already own, lets you count rows on them, and keeps a record of your yarn. The app has no accounts and never sends your patterns, records or photos to a server. Everything is stored and calculated on your device. We cannot access your data.

2. What is collected

2.1 Pattern files

A PDF you pick, or one that another app hands to RowNest via "Open in", is copied into the app's own storage on your device. Pattern files are never uploaded, shared or transmitted for analysis, and we cannot see their contents. Deleting the original elsewhere (for example in the Files app) leaves the app's copy intact; removing the pattern in the app, or deleting the app, removes the copy too.

2.2 Projects, counters and marks

Project details (name, yarn, needle, gauge, notes), counter values, marks placed on the pattern and time spent are stored only in a database on your device.

2.3 Yarn stash

Yarn entries, dye lots, remaining amounts and storage locations that you type in are likewise stored only on your device.

2.4 Photos

Photo library access is requested only when you add a project photo or a yarn (ball band) photo. The photo you choose is copied into the app and kept on your device; it is not uploaded.

2.5 Advertising data

The free version may show ads. In that process an advertising identifier (ADID/IDFA), device information (model, OS version), approximate location (IP-based) and ad interaction data may be collected by the ad provider. Users in the EEA/UK are asked for consent (GDPR) on first launch, and iOS users are asked through App Tracking Transparency. Buying Pro removes ads.

2.6 Payments

The one-time Pro purchase is handled by the store the app was installed from. The app never collects or stores card details — it only checks the store receipt to know whether Pro is unlocked.

3. Retention and deletion

We collect and hold nothing on our servers. Patterns, photos and records exist only on your device and are removed when you delete them in the app or delete the app. You can export your data as a file at any time with Export a backup, and that feature is not restricted for free users.

4. Children

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

5. Your rights

You may delete or export any stored pattern, project or stash entry from within the app at any time. Advertising consent can be changed in your device settings or in the app's consent management.
